9. Monitor progress throughout the contract
At regular intervals, monitor the sustainability of the product, service or works being delivered. Conduct regular evaluations (in cooperation with your suppliers) of the extent to which the set goals have been/are being achieved, and identify any opportunities for improvement. If the contract's provisions include agreements about improvements in the area of SPP or in the number of social return candidates, it is particularly important to monitor this regularly and conduct evaluations with the contractor.
Involve SPP in the performance indicators used to assess suppliers, and make sure that SPP is a standard component of periodic performance evaluation interviews.
If you are satisfied with the contractor's performance, be sure to express your appreciation. This will encourage the contractor to do their best to come up with a sustainable (or more sustainable) tender on a subsequent occasion. Include SPP performance in the final supplier's evaluation.
